Now Registering for 2011-2012 . . . 2011-2012 SCHEDULE OF CLASSESCLASS DESCRIPTIONSBalletis the foundation for all styles of dance. Strength, balance, flexibility, understanding and use of correct alignment, turn out, coordination of the arms and upper body, and terminology will be taught in all technique classes. Student's warm-up at the barre with a succession of exercises followed by center and across the floor combinations.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, Leotard (any color), Tights (pink), Pink ballet slippers, wrap skirts, Leg warmers, Dance Shorts/Sweatpants (form fitting only) -Students are considered for Pointe by teacher recommendation only -2 technique classes per week required for students on Pointe Lyricdance uses Ballet, Jazz, & Modern movements to express different emotions and interpret music and lyrics. One year Basic Ballet and/or Jazz knowledge is required.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun Leotards with dance shorts, fitted sweatpants or jazz pants, lyric sandals, beige jazz shoes, or barefoot. Modernis a theatrical style of dance that teaches students to use a variety of methods that express and interpret through contemporary movements that extend beyond the limitations of classical ballet.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, leotards, dance shorts, jazz pants, sweatpants, barefoot Tapis a fun, energetic style of dance for students of all ages. Precision and execution of tap steps, rhythm patterns, and progression combinations are taught in a graduated curriculum. Students placed based on proficiency, timing and execution.Attire: tap (tan or black), T-shirts/tank tops, dance shorts/sweat or jazz pants Jazzis another technically based style of dance. Students learn terminology, isolations, turns, leaps and fun combinations.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, Leotards, dance shorts/ jazz pants, Beige Jazz shoes required. Disney Babies:This fun, energetic class will encourage pre-schoolers ages 3-4 to explore the joy of music through creative movement and song to some favorite Disney classics.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, Leotards (any color), pink tights, pink ballet slippers Combination classes:This class introduces beginning students ages 3-6 to the fundamental basics in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Tumbling while improving coordination in a fun and creative way.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, pink ballet slippers (may be used for ballet & jazz portion of class) black tie patent leather tap shoes, pink tights and leotard of choice. Hip Hopis a funky style of dance that offers students ages 8 & up a more contemporary way of moving to upbeat popular music. Classes include a warm-up and stretch, abdominal exercises and various different styles of choreography.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, T-shirts/tank tops, jazz pants/dance shorts, Hip Hop sneakers *Age appropriate music & movements will be taught* Musical Theater:introduces students to all aspects of Musical Theater through acting, singing and dancing.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, T-shirts/tank tops, jazz pants/dance shorts, sweatpants Flamenco:is a Spanish style of dance characterized by stamping and clapping.Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, character shoes, flamenco skirts Morning Exercise:strengthen, stretch, & tone all major muscle groups with this morning workout incorporating tubing, mat work and more….Attire: Hair neatly pulled back in ponytail/bun, comfortable clothes & sneakers Contemporary Dance:incorporates ballet, Modern, Lyric, Jazz, and interpretive styles of dance through expressive movement. A foundation in ballet or Jazz dance is required.Leaps and Turns:class is dedicated to helping students master skills necessary for proper execution of turns such as pirouettes, fouette turns, and leaps such as calypso’s, grand jete’s, and leaps in second. Students should have a strong foundation in ballet or jazz dance.
-Students will be placed in classes by teacher recommendation at time of registration. |
