Welcome to the BSPA family!
We offer classes for Pre-schoolers through Adult, Beginner through advanced levels for both the recreational and serious-minded student with an emphasis on developing proper technique and correct terminology. Our professional staff is dedicated to bringing the highest quality education in a caring, nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and development in dance and the performing arts. 2010-2011 STUDIO POLICIESClass Placement:Upon registration, each student will be evaluated individually and placed in classes according to their skill level and understanding in each of the techniques. Students will then be carefully monitored throughout the season by our staff, and recommendations for advancement will be made on an as needed basis and must be approved by the director. Students will be placed on Pointe by the director’s recommendation only and Pointe shoes must be properly fitted by a dance professional and approved by the director. Students on Pointe must take 2 ballet technique classes per week. Attendance Policy:Consistent attendance is crucial to the development and advancement of each student as individuals and their classmates. If you must be absent from a class or rehearsal, please notify us by calling the studio in advance. Students with excessive absences may not be permitted to advance or perform in the recital at the teachers’ discretion. All students must notify the studio in writing if they are dropping a class otherwise you will be charged for the class until you do so. No refunds or cash credits will be given for missed classes. Please inquire at the desk for appropriate make-up classes. Late Policy:Due to the importance of a complete warm-up, if a student arrives more than 15 minutes late to a class it will be up to the discretion of the instructor to decide whether or not the student will be allowed to participate in class. Students unable to participate in classes due to tardiness will be advised to observe. Parent Communication:Throughout the season, parents will receive e-mail notifications of upcoming events and other pertinent information. Please make sure we have your correct e-mail address on file. Parents and students are encouraged to check our website periodically at www.brookfieldschoolofperformingarts.com for the latest class cancellations due to inclement weather, holiday closings, payment and billing information, upcoming events, and to obtain registration and other studio related documents. Please feel free to call the studio anytime during normal business hours at 203-775-6300 if you have any questions or need additional information. Class Cancellations/Holiday Closings:When the Brookfield Public Schools have a 90 minute delayed opening, all morning classes scheduled prior to 11:30AM will be cancelled. On early dismissal days, students should check the homepage of our website or call the studio for all afternoon and evening class cancellations. Cancellations will be posted on our website 1 hr. prior to the start of the first class. Attire:Students are required to come to class dressed in proper dance attire. Please check with your instructor for his/her attire and shoe requirements. All students should have their hair neatly pulled back from the face and neck in a ponytail or bun. No street shoes, jeans, stretch/sweat pants, large T-shirts or baggy shorts will be permitted in any class. All jewelry should be removed prior to class as well. Proper Studio Etiquette:
Performance Opportunities:Annual Recital:Each year students have the opportunity to share their accomplishments with family and friends in our annual recital. A recital costume will be ordered for each class a student participates in. There is no set fee for recital costumes. Parents will be notified of costume fees once they have been chosen by the Director. A $25.00 costume deposit per class will be required at the time of registration and remaining balances will be due with the January tuition payment. "Tis The Season" Holiday Show:Presented by Theater Connection, this festive Holiday Show features singers, dancers, and actors of all ages and abilities from the greater Danbury area and is sure to be a yearly tradition. BSPA Dance CompanyOur very own community outreach company for students to perform at Nursing Homes, Hospitals, and other community events.
